As the global smartphone market continues to mature, Huawei is launching some impressive new phones. This year, the company introduced the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket outside of China. The P50 Pro features a Kirin 9000 processor in China and the Snapdragon S888 in the rest of the world. This means Huawei continues to be one of the most powerful smartphone manufacturers. Moreover, it remains on Google’s radar, so its customers can expect full access to Google’s services and security updates.

While Huawei’s smartphone sales have declined since the US embargo, the company has remained committed to global expansion. Earlier this year, it even surpassed Apple in terms of global smartphone sales. Despite the sanctions, the company has continued to release high-end smartphones in China and neighboring regions. It also has plans to release new phones in Europe and the US. The company will unveil some of these devices at the IFA 2022 in Berlin.

Whats new with Huawei in 2022

Huawei’s Summer 2022 Smart Office Launch focused on new hardware, such as the MatePad Pro 11. In addition to the P smart 2022, the company introduced the updated HarmonyOS operating system. Other new devices include the Huawei PixLab V1, the Huawei Watch 3 Pro, and the Smart Screen S86 Pro. Its latest laptop, the Huawei MateBook X Pro, features Windows 11 and HarmonyOS.

The company’s move from Android to HarmonyOS officially started on 2 June 2021. While this may affect the company’s appeal in markets where Android is dominant, Huawei’s transition to HarmonyOS is unlikely to have an adverse impact on its global market presence. Those phones which shipped with Android Play Services will continue to get Google apps and security updates.

The next major release is a folding phone dubbed the Huawei Mate X2. The Huawei Mate X2 also features the HarmonyOS operating system, known as Hongmeng, which will soon become the third major operating system for Huawei’s smartphones. While the new operating system will be a hit in China, the international market is heavily dependent on Google Mobile Services and other third-party apps.

Huawei continues to release EMUI updates to global smartphones. The latest EMUI security update is still rolling out to Huawei phones, including the P30 Pro. These updates bring various bug fixes, system stability improvements, and new features. The EMUI major updates seed new features with the latest functionalities.

Another product in Huawei’s lineup is the Huawei WATCH 3 Pro. It is similar to the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but lacks many of the high-end features that the P40 Pro does. It has a matte glass finish and a 6.1in OLED display.

Updates to the Huawei P50 have also been released. One of the new features is the ability to pair two Bluetooth headsets. Another improvement is the privacy security protection provided by HarmonyOS 3.0. The new firmware offers smart folders and improved security.
